OBJECTIVES:
At the
conclusion of this course the student will be able to
- Manage the shell environment
- Write and customize simple scripts
- Edit and print files and manage printers
- Manage kernel modules and compile a custom kernel
- Install programs from source and manage shared libraries
- Describe the fundamentals of TCP/IP
- Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP protocols
- Configure and use PPP
- Manage networking daemons and related services
- Operate and perform basic configuration of Apache and DNS services
- Operate and perform basic configuration of sendmail
- Install, configure and manage XFree86, XDM, and X applications
- Install and customize a window manager
- Configure TCP wrappers, host security and user-level security
Prerequisite: It is recommended that students should complete Linux+
certification or possess equivalent knowledge prior to taking LPI level 1. Content covered
in Linux+ classes will not be covered in LPI level 1.
