Intro to Linux/Linux Basic

This course provides an introduction to the Linux and Unix operating systems. This is great for the first time Linux user who wants to know more about Linux or even students who want to pursue a career in Linux administration. The course starts out with installing Linux and ends with advanced topics like Network Services. Through hands-on training, students learn to install and configure several Linux distributions including Red Hat and SUSE. Students will also learn basic system commands using the BASH shell. In addition to this they will learn the basic principals of the X-windows system and how to configure it as well as an introduction to several desktop managers. This course also prepares students for the SAIR Linux and GNU Linux Certified Professional (LCP) certification, Exam #3X0-101.

Why the SAIR LCP Certification? The LCP Certification is designed to measure the competencies of the Linux Professional who has 6 months of experience with the Linux operating system, and who provides basic installation, operation, and troubleshooting services for the Linux operating system and hardware on workstations and servers. The ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic system administration tasks is also required. By earning the premier SAIR Linux and GNU credential of Linux Certified Professional (LCP), the Linux Administrator will have the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, support and take advantage of the Linux environment.
